J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry, Prague

The J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic opens

two Ph.D. positions in the field of Electrocatalysis in the group of Electrocatalysis.

The positions are financed within the Marie Sklodowska Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) ELCOREL.

The successful candidates must have a Master degree* in Chemistry (Physical, Analytical), Chemical Engineering, Material Science or Physics, must be in the first 4 years of his/her research career and meet the mobility eligibility criteria as outlined by the Marie Curie ITN rules**. Experience in electrochemistry and synthesis of inorganic materials is an advantage.
The positions are intended for 36 months. The positions provide a monthly salary and also cover also the tuition fees for the enrolment in the PhD programme of University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague.

The individual projects are focused on:
Project 1: Rational design of complex oxide materials for electro-catalytic for oxygen evolution. The work will involve the synthesis of complex oxide materials using low temperature approaches and their solid state and electrochemical characterization using various in situ and online characterization techniques. Project anticipates a close collaboration with computational researchers in the network as well as with the industrial part of the ELCOREL network.

Project 2: Synthesis and characterization of non-metal catalysts for electrochemical CO2 reduction. The work will involve the synthesis of complex inorganic materials and their characterization with electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical techniques. Frequent interactions with computational researchers in the ELCOREL network are envisaged.

Applications for the positions have to be submitted electronically.
Successful applications must contain
1) Structured CV (withlist of publication and scientometric data) including information on expected date of graduation
2) Motivation letter containing names and email of 2 references,
3) Certified copy of the MSc Diploma or Transcript of studies.

Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled; full attention will be guaranteed to the applications registered before May 1st 2017.
